1. Artist Profile

Jeff Koons was born in 1955 and is an American contemporary artist. Since the 1980s, he has continuously transformed the scale, materials, and display contexts of popular visual culture through his works of everyday consumer goods, toys, advertising images, and decorative sculptures. His work spans sculpture, painting, and installation, forming a highly recognizable visual language within the context of Pop Art, Dadaism, and Surrealism.

2. Artistic Concepts

Kuns integrates familiar mass-produced goods, souvenirs, children’s imagery, and art historical images into a highly-produced artistic system, examining the relationship between desire, taste, class, consumption, and viewing. He does not use irony as his only stance, but emphasizes the acceptance of individual desires and cultural memories; his works often employ an intimate and pleasant appearance to touch upon the tension between the sublime and the mundane, the public interest and the elite system.

3. Main Materials, Manufacturing Processes, and Technologies

His works often create inflatable reflective surfaces made from mirror-polished stainless steel and transparent colored coatings. He also uses materials such as porcelain, glass, ready-made objects, oil paint, and canvas. The production emphasizes precise modeling translation, scale magnification, metal shaping, polishing, painting, and hand-drawn artwork; some projects are completed by specialized workshops or studio teams in accordance with strict standards, allowing for the juxtaposition of the ethereal illusion and the heavy physical reality.
